The Baldwin Performing Arts Learning Center (PALC) stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of creativity, education, and community engagement on Maui. Established in 1986 under the visionary guidance of Sue Ann Loudon, PALC has been at the forefront of theatrical education, nurturing the talents of young performers and introducing the magic of theatre to generations.
The inception of PALC was marked by an ambitious and heartwarming production titled "Broadway Babes." This pioneering project brought together 5th graders from feeder schools across the island, offering them a unique opportunity to experience the thrill of performance and the camaraderie of theatre. Under Miss Loudon's mentorship, these young students embarked on a journey that not only showcased their budding talents but also laid the foundation for a program that would become integral to Maui's cultural landscape.
Since those early days, PALC has flourished, expanding its reach and deepening its impact under the steadfast leadership of Linda Carnevale. Building on the principles and passion instilled by Miss Loudon, Carnevale has continued to innovate and inspire, guiding PALC through exciting new chapters of artistic achievement and educational excellence.
Today, PALC offers an extensive curriculum that encompasses explorations in drama, play production, directing, stagecraft, and acting classes at various levels, from beginner to advanced. The center not only caters to Baldwin High students but also attracts talent from across the Maui District, creating a vibrant, inclusive community of young artists.
